April is only a day away which means we are quickly approaching our Special Convention to elect the next Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh!
Over the past two months we have shared information about each of our three candidates, and it was wonderful to see so many of you come out to meet them in person at our Walkabouts.
If you haven’t had an opportunity to get to know our candidates yet, here are a few reasons you should take the time to get acquainted with them before we meet for the Special Convention.
- Greater Understanding - While all three of our Bishop candidates are wonderful people and servants of God, we believe that one of these men is specifically called to lead our Diocese. Many of you might not have the pleasure of meeting each candidate in person before the election but taking the time to get to know them through the information posted below can give you deeper understanding of their perspective on the office of a bishop and a sense of their personality and character. This understanding will serve all of us well as we pursue a relationship with our next bishop.
- Informed Discernment - Our Lay Deputies and Clergy have the unique privilege of discerning and casting a vote to elect our next Bishop. The information and Walkabout videos we've posted will inform your discernment with knowledge as you pray.
- Focused Prayer - The seriousness and responsibilities associated with this call are an important consideration not only for our voting deputies and clergy but for the candidates and their families as well. Taking the time to get to know the candidates – watching their videos and reading a bit about them –allows us all to pray with greater intention for wisdom and discernment for everyone involved.
