The primary responsibility of the Director of Youth and Family Ministry will be to nurture our children and youth in relationship with God, each other, and with our local church body; equipping them for the work of ministry as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Ministry Leadership and Development
• In collaboration with the Rector, the director will oversee ministry to and with all children ages K-12, and to engage their families in the further development of ministry.
Ministry to and with Youth and Children

Develop the children’s ministry with a plan to be implemented over the next several years. This plan should include organizing classes and curriculum. This will include a “Sunday School” hour for all ages, and a separate class for the youngest children during the church service.

Prepare to grow into a youth group as the children of the church and others in the community grow into their teen years.

Leadership and teaching in youth/children ministry classes and activities.

Plan and supervise retreats, short term mission trips, and service projects as opportunity arises.

Foster joyful identity with Christ and fellow Christians, anchored in a robust understanding of
God’s grace in the life of believers, and witness to people who are disconnected from God.

Oversee youth confirmation process in cooperation with Rector.

Lead and oversee the yearly Vacation Bible School program.
Leadership Development

Train and provide accountability for volunteers who minister with grades k-12.

Provide ways for youth to explore their spiritual giftedness.
Administration & Communication
-
Verbal and written communication of ministry events and initiatives.

Administration of Sunday and midweek Youth Ministry.

Select and/or develop curriculum for Sunday School, youth ministry, VBS.

Supervise youth ministry leaders and manage their schedule.

Manage children and youth ministry budget.

Maintain records of volunteer training and criminal background checks.

Develop and enforce policies which promote the safety of volunteers and children.
